Flyer provides important SD Cost of Attendance information

Graduation Cap on top of $100 bill

To plan for any major purchase, you first need to have an idea of the cost. The same is true for college tuition.

Mapping Your Future provides a 2020-2021 Estimated Costs for South Dakota Colleges and Technical Schools flyer to help students and parents know some of the costs of pursuing postsecondary education in South Dakota.

The flyer, which can be viewed online or downloaded, lists the tuition and fees, books and supplies, and on campus or off-campus room and board costs for the current 2020-21 academic year. Actual costs for the 2021-22 academic year, which this year’s high school seniors will need to consider in their plans, could be different. However, the costs, some of which are estimated, helps students get an idea of the costs of attendance at each of the South Dakota institutions.

The information on the flyer can help students estimate their total cost of attendance. The financial aid offices at the institutions will calculate a cost of attendance for each student. The student’s estimated family contribution (EFC), which is determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), will be subtracted from the student’s total cost of attendance to determine the student’s financial need. The financial aid office will then offer financial aid to help meet the student’s financial need.
