Some 30,000 students in South Dakota participate in career and technical education programs.
February is the month to honor career and technical education (CTE), recognizing the value that this education brings to our lives, our communities and to South Dakota.
The South Dakota Department of Education has a website devoted to information about career and technical education in the state, including a fact sheet about CTE in the state. According the fact sheet, South Dakota CTE “maximizes student learning with real-world knowledge and skills.”
“CTE includes challenging academic and technical content,” according to the fact sheet, “and fosters strong relationships with industry and higher education.”
The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) created a public awareness campaign to celebrate the month. In addition, ACTE offers some suggestions for the celebration on its website.
