The college application process can be costly if you want to apply to more than one school or institution.
The South Dakota Board of Regents are helping students by removing the cost of applying at South Dakota postsecondary institutions for one week in the fall of 2018.
The 2018 College Application week is October 29 through November 2, 2018. During College Application Week, seniors at participating high schools are eligible for up to three free applications to South Dakota postsecondary institutions.
South Dakota College Application Week is part of the American College Application Campaign (ACAC), which is a national effort to increase the number of first-generation students and students from low-income families pursuing a college degree or other higher education credential. The primary purpose of this effort is to help high school seniors navigate the complex college admissions process and ensure they apply to at least one postsecondary institution.
South Dakota College Application Week got its start in 2014 with nine high schools participating and the campaign continues to grow and add new high schools each year.
Students should check with their high school counselor to make sure their high school participates in College Application Week.
All high schools not previously in the project are now eligible to participate. For all schools planning to participate (both previous and new participants), the school counselor or other school official should notify the Board of Regents and to ensure the students' applications are processed accordingly during the campaign week.
