Because of the pandemic, some South Dakota teachers are getting first-hand experience in teaching online this year. Now, a new grant program, awarded to the state, gives them an opportunity to learn more about online programs, including how they can be effective in online or blended learning platforms.
According to an announcement from the South Dakota Department of Education, 1,600 South Dakota educators will be invited to apply for the opportunity to earn nine graduate credit by completing a series of online courses to increase their capacity in competency based, knowledge-rich, and whole child approaches to instruction to support a continuum of learning. Continuing education credits will be available under the three-year grant, and all costs for courses, texts, and credits are covered by grant.
Applications are now open and the first cohort for the program will begin on February 1, 2021.
